GENERAL
Summary:
This role will provide product and technology expertise in support of Tandem Diabetes Care, Inc's strategy, corporate development, and market intelligence initiatives. The Senior Manager will work closely with strategy, finance, commercial and R&D teams to develop next generation concepts as candidates for further investment and will support select programs through early concept development. This position will also provide subject matter expertise for technical due diligence of strategic investment opportunities, including M&A, bringing in additional internal experts, as necessary. PRIMARY DUTIES &
Responsibilities:
Working cross-functionally across the organization, and as a member of the strategy and corporate development team, this role will support the development of Tandem's pipeline of new product and services opportunities that fulfill the strategic goals of the organization by:
Initially focusing on developing the next generation insulin delivery device pipeline Researching emerging technologies and/or new idea submissions related to diabetes products and technology, engaging with external and internal sources, with an initial emphasis on the long-term evolution of insulin delivery devices. Identifying and monitoring market trends and business strategies that can be applied or converted into innovative product concepts or systems. Supporting the generation of new product and service ideas, reviewing technical feasibility with engineering and manufacturing leadership and, and leading concept development workstreams to determine the Company's ability to address specific market needs. Further developing and iterating on requirements, evaluating technical and commercial feasibility while working with small internal and external teams to deliver viable product and service designs. Translating concepts into multi-year product innovation strategies and roadmaps, supporting the development of clear investment recommendations for management. Acting as early-stage project owner for new product workstreams and driving projects through feasibility stage development. This role will provide critical industry, product, and technical insights in support of the group's strategy, corporate development, and market intelligence charter by:
Supporting product and technology diligence for strategic investment opportunities, including for venture investment and M&A, engaging and coordinating with internal and external technical teams, as appropriate. Evaluating new and emerging technologies to identify potential acquisition, investment and/or distribution opportunities, and bringing candidate ideas to the broader strategy and corporate development group for further evaluation. Providing inputs to competitive evaluations to support current and prospective product strategies and decision-making. Engaging with key business stakeholders across commercial and engineering functions in support of annual strategic planning and corporate goal setting discussions. YOU'RE AWESOME AT:

Knowledge, skills & abilities:
Familiarity with FDA interoperable regulatory pathways. Demonstrated experience engaging with cross-functional teams and internal collaboration. A collaborative approach, familiarity with matrix organizations and a clear track-record of working across cross-functional programs and teams. The ability to deal with ambiguity and communicate complex concepts simply to internal stakeholders and other team members. Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to influence. A capacity to generate, and facilitate the generation of, a pipeline of early-stage product and service concepts. Experience engaging distributed, indirect project teams. Minimum certifications/educational level:
BA/BS in a scientific or engineering or equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience. MBA equivalent preferred. Minimum
Experience:
7 years of product innovation experience with B.S. Sciences or Engineering, or 5 years of product innovation experience with graduate degree. Experience with early-stage product development, upstream product management, and/or product innovation. Experience with long-range product and business planning, demanding a sophisticated approach to understanding strategic needs, competitive trends, and financial impact. Practical experience and subject matter expertise in diabetes technology (e.g., next generation insulin pump system technology, continuous glucose monitors, closed loop algorithms, etc.) JOB SCOPE:
Establishes operational objectives and work plans and delegates assignments to subordinates. Senior management reviews objectives to determine success of operation. Involved in developing, modifying and executing company policies that affect immediate operations and may also have company-wide effect. Works on issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives. Implements strategic policies when selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Establishes and assures adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements. Erroneous decisions will result in critical delay(s) in schedules and/or unit operations
Salary Range:
$100K -- $150K
Minimum Qualification
Life SciencesEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
