Summary:
Works closely under the direction of the Advanced Programs Lead Project Engineer to provide Systems Engineering technical support for assigned projects. The Systems Engineer is responsible for supporting the technical execution and technical performance of assigned projects from concept through production. The Systems Engineer will develop communication system waveforms, define system requirements, specify software/firmware Application Program Interfaces (APIs) and establish/maintain technical baselines. In addition, the Systems Engineer will work with the Lead Project Engineers and all other functional discipline technical leads to help drive the project's technical scope. Technical tasks include:
proposal development, requirements analysis, design, integration, verification, and preparation for production. Throughout the execution of the project, the Systems Engineer coordinates activities across technical disciplines, helps with the execution of technical gate reviews, monitors and reports technical progress against baseline schedules, identifies and resolves technical issues/risks in order to minimize their impact on program execution/success. It is important that the candidate be able work independently and collaboratively to understand and help direct work of the technical staff . Essential Job Duties and
Responsibilities:
Defines, develops and documents all aspects of complex line-of-sight (LOS) and SATCOM RF communication waveforms to include Physical, MAC and network layers of LPI, LPD, AJ and Multiple-Access waveforms Participates in industry and government consortiums for specification of interoperable waveforms Prepares communication waveform specifications Supports implementation of complex waveforms in modem/radio hardware/software Supports integration and testing of complex waveforms Develops system architectures that effectively allocate functionality to subsystems/components Performs functional decomposition of system-level requirements to derive subsystem-level requirements Specifies software/firmware Application Program Interfaces (APIs) consisting of interface protocols, timing requirements and message set information Familiar with cybersecurity and cryptographic aspects of military communication systems Prepares system and sub-system level interface control documents (ICDs) Clearly relays the program's technical requirements/objectives to technical staff and management Supports customer requirement and design reviews Supports technical engineering activities for proposal efforts Collaborates with Business Development on product technical requirements, features and functionality Acts as liaison between different technical functional engineering disciplines Identifies technical solutions for new and existing customers Capable of being a technical project lead for development programs Familiar with digital beam-forming phased-array antennas is desirable Familiar with link budget analysis is desirable Experience with MBSE, DOORS and JIRA is desirable Minimum Job Requirements:
Four-year college degree, or equivalent, in electrical or software engineering plus a minimum of ten years of related experience, or a master's degree with three years' experience. Effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to use personal computer software such as spreadsheets and word processing programs. Ability to effectively interface with customers, subcontractors and vendors, and with employees and managers at all levels both within the organization. In depth knowledge of customer needs and competing products. Mental ability to perform engineering problem solving and analytical tasks. Must be able to work under project and proposal deadline pressures, and associated cost and schedule constraints. Must possess ability to obtain and hold a DoD Security Clearance (current possession of security clearance preferred).
Salary Range:
$150K -- $200K
Minimum Qualification
System & Network Administration, Systems Architecture & EngineeringEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
