4 11 hours ago Full Job Description The Public Relations Specialist is responsible for media relations, attending community meetings, managing stakeholder partnerships, executing outreach and appreciation events, managing vendor contracts, developing fresh content for the MTS website and social media channels, publishing quarterly newsletters, and assisting in the development and implementation of major marketing campaigns and projects.
Essential duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
Essential Functions Coordinates media outreach efforts, including writing news releases and blogs, and pitching stories to local and trade media.
Acts as the primary staff member responsible for media event logistics and organization, including:
site walkthroughs, speaker invitations, equipment rental, set-up and breakdown, speaking points, run of show development, and more.
Assists with planning, organizing and implementing major marketing and public relations campaigns and initiatives.
Supports Marketing & Communications Manager with content development and strategy for MTS social media platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, YouTube and Instagram as needed.
In partnership with the Community Engagement Specialist, responsible for planning, executing and/or maintaining MTS community partnerships, such as Stuff the Bus, the Laptop Scholarship Program, Holiday Bowl, downtown San Diego events, and more.
Acts as a liaison, attends events, and builds on partnerships with key organizations in MTS's jurisdiction, such as city governments, military, planning groups, chambers of commerce and other community-based organizations.
Creates content and supports publishing the MTS Connections employee newsletter, news releases, media advisories, etc.
Responds to information and marketing material requests from customers and the general public.

Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of or ability to learn MTS policies and regulations, ability to read, understand and apply MTS policies, regulations and union labor contracts; ability to write letters, memoranda and reports using clear, concise and grammatically correct English; ability to speak clearly, distinctly and effectively in person-to-person or small group situations using tact and diplomacy; ability to coordinate and initiate actions necessary to implement decisions and delegate responsibilities to appropriate personnel; ability to establish and maintain priorities in order to complete assignments by deadlines without detailed instructions; skill in verifying the accuracy and completeness of forms and reports; knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and the ability to learn and use other software that MTS might have or acquire; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, managers, customers and the general public; ability to represent MTS as an enthusiastic brand ambassador in a positive way while working with the public; ability to provide professional level support in both the marketing and communications areas; knowledge of MTS Bus and MTS Rail services.
Physical Requirements The successful candidate must be able to fulfill the physical demands of the job such as walking, stooping, sitting, bending, reaching for overhead files and occasional lifting (must be able to lift up to 15 pounds).
Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and perform tasks involving manual dexterity, such as use of a computer and 10-key.
Work will at times require more than 8 hours per day or an irregular work week to perform the essential duties of the position.
Duties will be performed primarily in an office type environment and may require travel to external locations and agencies.
Experience/Education/Certificates/License(s) Possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in marketing, communications, political science, public relations or journalism is preferred.
Possess a minimum of five years of experience in the marketing/public relations field preferred.
Requisite knowledge, skills and experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
Bilingual in English and Spanish is strongly preferred, but not required.
Must possess and maintain a valid California driver's license.
GENERAL:
Must satisfactorily pass all applicable examinations including, but not limited to, a pre-employment physical, drug screen and background check.
SALARY GRADE:
# 6 ($44,003 - $83,271) Equal Opportunity Employer Minorities/Women/Protected Veterans/Disabled.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
