Machine Learning Engineer
The Core Motion team is a dynamic, collaborative group that works at the intersection of scientific research and product development.
We combine machine learning, signal processing, innovative study designs, and deep expertise in health to deliver important features like Journal, Advanced Running Metrics, Walking Steadiness, and the Apple Heart and Movement Study.
Our science-backed designs and innovative multi-modal sensing algorithms power features that help motivate our customers to stay healthy and active, track their mobility and cardiovascular health, and even monitor complex medical conditions like Parkinson's.

Key Qualifications In-depth experience in algorithm design with demonstrated ability to translate cutting-edge research into tangible applications, and proven mathematical understanding of machine learning and statistics.
Experience with LLM is a big plus.
Experience with signal processing and/or sensor data a plus.
Developed production code (e.
g.
C/C++, ObjC, Java) for a shipping product in a peer reviewed environment.
Implemented signals processing, statistical modeling, and/or machine learning algorithms to run on platforms with limited compute and memory.
Collaborative problem-solving and technical leadership skills, with experience in a fast-paced, delivery-focused environment.
Demonstrated ability to break down complex requirements into orthogonal and independent components for the purpose of building composable software.
Description In this position, you will be designing and implementing novel algorithms that use machine learning and other techniques to create science-backed, delightful experiences for Apple users.
You will:
Invent, design and implement new algorithms across the Apple ecosystem using machine learning and other techniquesProduce high quality code with excellent reliability and performance on embedded systemsCommunicate ideas clearly and precisely, both within our team and to cross-functional partnersContribute to the design of user studies and other data collections to ensure that our data strategy is fully aligned with our feature goals from prototype to post-ship monitoringApproach your work with a deep commitment to shipping quality features, a relentless focus on the user, and an ownership mindset Education & Experience M.

in Computer Science, EECS, or a related field, or equivalent experience plus 10
years experience ORPhD plus 5
years of industry experience with a track record of delivering cutting edge innovation in the field.
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range.
This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role.
The base pay range for this role is between $189,800 and $284,900, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
