The Principal Scientist will serve as an integral member of the Cellular & Molecular Toxicology team in Preclinical Sciences & Translational Safety (PSTS) through the evaluation, integration, and application of conventional & complex model systems for investigations arising from target knowledge and toxicity issues during the drug development process.
This scientist will lead investigative toxicity studies through the design and supervision of scientific and technical activities and serve as a representative of Investigative Toxicology on investigative issue resolution teams.
The Principal Scientist will be responsible for communicating investigative plans and updates to PSTS issues teams, project teams, and global leadership.
Key
Responsibilities:
Serves as a Subject Matter Expert and represents Investigative Toxicology on issues resolution teams.
Supervise and mentor scientific staff.
Design and conduct experiments and develop fit for purpose assays for screening and mechanistic toxicity evaluations in response to target liability assessments and nonclinical or clinical findings.
Evaluate and implement novel in vitro toxicology models and assays.
Maintain cellular and molecular toxicology expertise through collaborations within TPPIT & PSTS globally, DPDS, and through organizational associations, literature reviews, continuing education, and publications.
Partner with Global Lead of CMT to establish strategic goals and objectives.
Identify topics appropriate for internal and external scientific publication, author scientific publications, posters and or draft documents for official communication (i.
e.
Contributing Scientist Reports).
QualificationsEducation and
Experience:
Ph.
D.
in Toxicology or related field with 2-5 years postdoctoral training and 6
years of relevant work experience required.
Experience designing and conducting mechanistic investigative studies using cell-based models required.
Advanced knowledge of cellular and molecular toxicology and demonstrated experience driving projects to completion required.
Track record of working collaboratively to solve sophisticated scientific problems required.
Experience with application of organotypic models incorporating multiple cell types including immune cells to hypothesis-driven mechanistic toxicity evaluations preferred.
Experience with drug modalities beyond small molecules preferred.
Experience working on multi-disciplinary teams preferred.
Leading people & projects commensurate with current role preferred.
Board Certification in Toxicology preferred.
Must be highly motivated, curious, and organized individual with a team-oriented mentality who enjoys working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and working collaboratively across functions.
Excellent written, visual, and oral communication skills.
The anticipated base pay range for this position is $131,000 to $225,400.
