Student Assistant - Linguistics at SDSU Research Foundation San Diego, CA 92182-1914

This position is open until filled with first review of applicants to take place on January 19th.
This is an academic appointment intended to cover student employees who are currently enrolled at San Diego State University.
This position is a half-time appointment, paid hourly for hours worked not to exceed 20-hours per week.
Under general direction of the Director of Admissions, this position provides linguistics support to the Marketing and Admissions Departments at SDSU Global Campus.
This position carries a medium level of responsibility with regard to the information available to him/her; therefore, the candidate's success is contingent upon his/her ability to maintain a high level of professionalism, integrity and confidentiality at all times.
The Admissions Team at SDSU Global Campus seeks a student assistant with strong linguistic skills to assist with training the Global Campus chatbot.
This is a fast-paced environment; you will have a variety of work for your portfolio at the end of this assignment.
Working under the supervision of our Director of Admissions, we are seeking a candidate who can:
Linguistics:
(95%)Support the Admissions team in further training and development of our Global Campus website Live Chat chatbotBuild human language data sets to train machine learning models driving the chatbotsBuild and manage chatbot platform to deliver conversational experiences for prospective students to Global Campus.
Analyze historical customer interaction data and make decisions on how to use that data to build training data sets and train the modelsApply linguistic skills to better understand users and how they're communicating with Global CampusImprove user satisfaction utilizing natural language processing to align student need with appropriate response.
Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google G-Suite applications.
Demonstrate the ability to interpret data to produce insights and business intelligence.
Ability to work well with a wide variety of individuals at all levels of interests and responsibilities, and to work both independently and as a member of the teamPrevious studies and/or experience with A.
I.
platforms like chatbots and the ability to enable a good customer experience would be a plus.
All other duties as assigned (5%) Students must be currently enrolled as a student at SDSU.
Undergraduate students must be enrolled in at least 6 units and be in good academic standing; Graduate students must be enrolled in at least 5 graduate weighted units and be in good academic standing.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
