RESEARCH SCIENTIST - DISCOVERY BIOLOGYSAN DIEGO, CA 50% on site, 50% WFHProject Description:
The Discovery Biology Group in The Oncogenesis Thematic Research Center (TRC) focuses on delivering novel cancer therapeutics by targeting E3 ubiquitin ligases for selective protein degradation.
The group integrates discovery research through translational and early clinical development and focuses on numerous aspects of protein homeostasis including the ubiquitin-proteasome system, protein translation, and RNA processing and stability.
We are seeking a motivated Scientist with strong experience and deep understanding of cancer biology to participate in drug discovery research.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment to 1) design and execute in vitro studies that further our understanding of the mechanisms of therapeutic compounds; 2) develop and implement robust cellular assays to support discovery of novel molecules as clinical development candidates.
The successful candidate will work with discovery project teams and scientists across different functional areas and would be expected to present his or her work at project team meetings.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
Develop and implement cell-based assays to support target identification, validation, and drug development.
Characterization of MOA, exploration of potential resistance/synthetic lethality mechanisms and generation of patient selection hypothesisDesign and develop high-throughput screen to uncover novel substrates for targeted protein degradation.
Analyze and present data in an organized and timely manner.
Required Skills:
PhD degree with 0-3 years' experience in Molecular and Cell Biology, preferably in oncology and/or protein homeostasis, or M.
S.
degree with a minimum of 4 years, BSc with a minimum of 6 years of experience in developing cell-based assays in biopharmaceutical industryExcellent knowledge and extensive experience in cancer research with strong training in molecular and cell biologyPrevious hands-on experience in various cell-based assays including, but not limited to, cloning, viral transduction, proliferation, apoptosis, cell cycle analysis, ELISA, Western blotting, FACS, and quantitative PCR.
Proficiency in scientific data analysis programs including FlowJo, Microsoft Excel, GraphPad PrismExperience in high-throughput screen, automation and bioinformatic analysis on a wide array of molecular profiling platforms is preferred.
Capability to deliver high quality data in an organized and timely manner.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and collaborative team environment, flexibility and interest in learning new techniques and skills in accordance with the research program needs.
Effective communication and excellent presentation skills in internal meetings and external settings This 12

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
